Az EUROlocal projekt alátámasztja az Európai Bizottságnak az életen át tartó tanulás régióival kapcsolatos politikájának jelentőségét azzal, hogy azok fejlesztésével kapcsolatos eszközöket, stratégiákat, tananyagokat, jelentéseket gyűjt.
Az EUROlocal projekt lényege annak együttműködő és interaktív sajátosságában rejlik. A partnerek önálló elhatározásból jelentős hozzájárulást tesznek a tanuló régió koncepciójának és gyakorlatának fejlesztéséhez. Az EUROlocal a helyi kezdeményezések számára is könnyen hozzáférhető eszközt jelenít meg, mely a fontosabb pán-európai törekvésekből származó közös tapasztalatokra és ismeretekre támaszkodik.
A meghatározó véleményformálók és döntéshozók aktuális tanuló régiós kezdeményezései összekötése mellett az EUROlocal folyamatosan keresi az Európai Tanuló Régiók Dinamikus Felmérése eredményeiből származó befektetések és visszajelzések hatásait. Presentations of the EUROlocal Conference [2]
The final conference of the EUROlocal project was held on 26-28 October and was opened in the city of Murten, Switzerland, by the mayor of the city, Christian Brechbühl. There followed a series of excellent presentations and workshop events for some 50+ participants from 15 countries in Europe.

Smart Regions - building social capital in the e-business [5]
[5] The Smart-Regions Website is a showcase of over forty remarkable achievements in the domain of e-Services, e-Learning and e-Government that were realised in European regions in 2002-2007, called “Smart Regions”. It includes several documents about projects and initiatives for building social capital, regional innovation as in the field of education and research. Eleven of them are taking place in Belgium, eight refer to the Netherlands.
All the governments, research institutions or voluntary organisations depicted on this website have one shared goal: to make their region better, stronger and smarter. And the secret to regional development is actually very simple: co-operation. The Smart Regions share infrastructure, exchange methodologies, copy succesfull achievements, have built strong stakeholder structures and managed to involve other sectors of society.

The University Network of the European Capitals of Culture [6]
The general aims of UNeECC are:
- to ensure the recognition of the role and contribution of universities to the success of the cities conferred the title "European Capital of Culture"
- to provide the member universities with a possibility of a continuous and full participation in the European Capitals of Culture movement enhanced by "Universities of the Year"
- to foster inter-university cooperation to develop and reshape the universities regional position to create new activities for city and university collaboration
